Who We Are
Originating in the pandemic, we began as a variety of groups of crafters making NHS scrubs, masks and property bags, later expanding to support children with teddies and other needs.
We are a charity that make handmade items for the community.
We have 21 hubs across the West Midlands, into South Staffordshire & Worcestershire.
Our amazing team of volunteer drivers distribute to these hubs and the communities
we support.
With over 3,500 Facebook members—makers, volunteers, and supporters
We are entirely self-funded, raising money through donations, online auctions, and
financial contributions We are all volunteers, no one receives any payment.
Beyond the making, we’ve built a strong, supportive community of mostly women—
Merry Makers—who uplift each other, providing purpose and improving mental health.
Many say this group has been their lifeline.
We are making and distributing up to 6,000 items a month to our community in
Hospitals, Hospices, Care Homes, Schools and any other Charity that can provide
comfort during trauma.
We make useful items, that bring joy or relieves discomfort. The items we make include :
Teddies/toys, Dementia & Sensory items, Incubator covers & mattresses, Gifts, Palliative
Care bags to name but a few.
We were proud to be formally recognised as a “Community Champion” nominee
recently at the Dudley CVS Community Action Awards 2025.

Vikki Thomas
Chair of Trustees
I am Vikki. I have been a volunteer right from the start. I love to sew and make whatever I can. I look after marketing for the charity and I am chair of the trustees. A few of the things my role includes are; holding the leaders and other trustees to account, ensuring we are doing everything properly, support Trish where I can, act as an ambassador for the charity and lead the meetings.

I am a founding Trustee of Crafting for Communities (2021), Leader of Operations, Treasurer & Ambassador for the Charity. My responsibilities are to ensure that as a Charity we are compliant with all legal obligations necessary for running a Charity. That we run as smoothly as possible to ensure we continue to serve the makers and recipients of our items.
Sue Edwards
Trustee, Deputy Treasurer and outbound operations leader
I’m Sue and I began with the charity during the first lockdown. I look after all the requests that come in to the charity along with the drivers that deliver for us and hubs.
I’m also a trustee for the charity.
Carolyn Cieslik
Trustee and fundraising lead
I’m Carolyn and I have been involved with the charity since the first lockdown. My role within the charity is as the lead fundraiser, running auctions, raffles and applying for funds. A wonderful team supports me with this. I am also a Trustee of the charity.
Alison Hill
Trustee and Fundraising
I am Alison and I began with the charity during the first lockdown. I was making lots of hearts. I know make shawls, blankets and other items for the charity. I am also a Trustee of the charity and support with the fundraising.
